Our Commitment
Underpebble is designed to be private by default. The App does not require you to create an account. We do not sell your data. We do not run ads. All of your adventure history, streak data, and personal settings are stored locally on your device and are never transmitted to our servers.
1. Information We Collect
Underpebble collects the minimum information necessary to provide its core features.
Information you provide
- Location coordinates — If you enable weather-based suggestions, you may optionally provide your approximate coordinates (latitude and longitude) in the App's settings. These are stored only on your device and are used solely to fetch local weather data.
- Equipment preferences — The gear and equipment you select in Settings is stored only on your device.
Information generated by the App
- Adventure history and streaks — Records of adventures you've completed and your current streak are stored locally on your device using encrypted on-device storage. This data never leaves your device.
Information we do NOT collect
- Name, email address, or any personally identifiable information
- Precise GPS location or location history
- Usage analytics or behavioral tracking
- Device identifiers or advertising IDs
- Photos, contacts, or other device data
2. How We Use Information
Any information processed by the App is used exclusively to:
- Generate relevant daily adventure suggestions based on local weather and preferences
- Track your adventure streak and history on your device
- Personalize activity suggestions based on your equipment settings
We do not use your information for advertising, profiling, or any purpose beyond delivering the App's core features.
3. Local Data Storage
All user data — including your settings, adventure history, and streak data — is stored locally on your device using MMKV, a fast and encrypted key-value storage library. This data exists only on your device and is not synced to any cloud service or server controlled by Underpebble.
If you delete the App, all locally stored data is permanently removed from your device.
4. Weather Data
When you enable weather-based suggestions, the App may send your approximate coordinates (latitude and longitude that you manually enter in Settings) to OpenWeather to retrieve a local weather forecast. This request is made directly from your device to OpenWeather's API. Underpebble does not receive or store this weather request on any server.
Weather data from OpenWeather is cached locally on your device for 30 minutes to minimize network requests. OpenWeather's use of your data is governed by their own Privacy Policy.
If you do not configure location coordinates, the App uses randomized stub weather data to generate suggestions and makes no network requests to OpenWeather.
5. Third-Party Services
The App may interact with the following third-party services:
- OpenWeather — For weather data when location coordinates are configured. See Section 4 above.
- Apple App Store / Google Play Store — Distribution of the App. These platforms may collect usage and crash data in accordance with their own privacy policies.
We do not integrate with advertising networks, social media platforms, or analytics services.
6. Children's Privacy
Underpebble is designed for use by families, including children, under parental supervision. The App does not knowingly collect personal information from children under the age of 13 (or the applicable age in your jurisdiction). Because the App requires no account creation and stores no data on our servers, it is inherently privacy-protective for younger users.
If you believe your child has provided personal information through the App, please contact us so we can assist.
7. Data Security
Because Underpebble stores all data locally on your device, the security of that data depends on your device's own security measures (passcode, Face ID, etc.). We use MMKV's encryption for on-device storage. We strongly encourage you to use your device's built-in security features to protect your data.
8. Your Rights
Because Underpebble does not collect or store any of your data on external servers, there is no personal data for us to provide, correct, or delete on your behalf. All data can be cleared at any time by deleting the App from your device.
9. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will indicate changes by updating the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. We encourage you to review this policy periodically. Continued use of the App after any changes constitutes your acceptance of the updated policy.
